Whale of a Summer!

Hey readers! I hope that all of you are enjoying this last month of summer by hanging out with friends, going to the beach and making the most of the time you have left! Summer is my favorite time of the year, and wearing Vineyard Vines makes it even better! Here are some of my favorite items from VV for the summertime:

But actually, could this outfit be any cuter? The American flag hat is adorable, especially with a pair of shorts and t-shirt like this! Even though the Fourth of July has passed, patriotism never goes out of style! I want to wear this outfit...NOW!

These lobster shorts are ADORABLE! It doesn't get much preppier than a pair of critter shorts like these! Not to mention, navy and red are a perfect color combo!

This 1/4 zip is not only great for a chilly summer night, but a necessity in the fall! The cotton jersey fabric makes this sweater super comfy!

Love this dual pattern “South Coast” maxi dress! Style it with a pair of wedges for a great evening look!

Shirt dresses are my weakness, especially an adorable gingham dress like this! Wear this dress out at night, or around the town during the day. I promise, you can't go wrong with this shirt dress! Pair it with Jack Rogers, or even a pair of wedges to dress up the look!

These whale boxer shorts are too cute! I love the polka dot pattern, as well as the colors! Keep yourself cool on a hot summer night!

Look familiar? Well, you're right! These are the male version of the shorts posted above! Like I said earlier, it doesn't get much preppier than a pair of critter shorts! Wear them with a button down shirt, or a Polo.

This striped collared shirt is perfect for a round of golf or even out to dinner! With an assortment of colors to choose from, this shirt is a must!

Sport some true Vineyard Vines pride by bringing a towel like this to the beach!

Trying to stay hydrated in the heat but can't seem to keep your drink cool? Use a coozie like this one! I have one, and I love it!

Croakies are a great way to keep your sunglasses on AND look stylish! I love these purple croakies!

Summer Lovin'

Hi all! I'm finally back, and I cannot wait to share all of my favorite items from the newest Vineyard Vines collection! From flip flops to graphic t-shirts, I am absolutely OBSESSED with their new arrivals. Then again, when am I not obsessing over anything with "the Whale?" I mean...there is a reason why this blog is called "Confessions of a Vineyard Vines-aholic!"

I love both of these shorts because of their fun patterns! The stripes and the sailboats are "prepfection" for the summer. Pair them with Sperrys or Jack Rogers (as pictured) for the ideal preppy look!

Okay so I really, really, REALLY love this skirt! The pattern, along with the slim fit makes the skirt a perfect summer style.

This "Whale Tail" tunic is a great cover-up! Wear this to the beach or pool over your swimsuit.

Both of these swimsuits are great options. Beat the heat by swimming in these suits!

It's especially important to protect your skin in the current heat wave! Sport this VV hat and stay fashionable in the sun!

Guys, check out these awesome shorts! These two colors are great for the summertime.

Graphic T-shirts are a stylish and fun way to stay cool and comfortable. Both of these shirts are a must! Wear them with a pair of shorts or swim trunks, depending on where you're headed.

I love these swim trunks because of the colors and the pattern! Check out www.vineyardvines.com for more options.

Thanks for checking in! Stay tuned for more posts from Confessions of a Vineyard Vines-aholic!

Essentials for a Palm Beach Prep

I'm writing to you from the land of all things preppy, Palm Beach, FL. Walking around Palm Beach is like walking around heaven for a prep. With Vineyard Vines lovers nearly everywhere I turn, I feel right at home. In fact, Palm Beach even has its own Vineyard Vines store! Seriously, nothing can get better than that. If you ever happen to travel here or just want to dress like you're here, use this post as a guide for the Vineyard Vines essentials to a Palm Beach Prep.

For the pool or beach:

The maxi dress (top left) is perfect for everyday use! Whether you're going out to dinner or lounging by the pool, it is a wonderful piece from the new collection. The ribbon adds some flare, as well. Vineyard Vines also has a variety of bathing suits that are perfect for Florida! The nautical and striped suits (top right) are just some of my favorites. If you're traveling to the beach, be sure to get a pair of flip flops and the classic patchwork tote! I've chosen these four pieces as Palm Beach essentials, but trust me- there are many other pieces that could fit right in! Check out www.vineyardvines.com for more pool/beach items.

For the golf course:
The Whale Embroidered seersucker shorts are a great pair to wear on the golf course for girls, especially paired with a polo like the one on the top right. In addition, a hat is definitely essential to play golf with in Florida to protect yourself from the sun! The striped polo for guys is a great shirt to wear on the golf course because it is made from Coolplus jersey. All four of these items are perfect to wear while playing golf! Check out www.vineyardvines.com for more golf items.

For the nighttime:
As you can probably tell, I love blue and salmon colored things. These pieces are great for a night out in Palm Beach, whether you're eating at a restaurant or a country club. I love the salmon colored pants for guys, and I love the two dresses for girls because of their cute, detailed trim. Check out more items for nighttime at www.vineyardvines.com

Keep in mind that you don't have to be in Palm Beach to dress like a Palm Beach Prep! Whether you're vacationing in Palm Beach, another destination or just staying home, I hope that these items are of some use or interest you! Happy spring, readers!

Top Five Reasons Why I Love VV

In honor of Valentine's Day, I thought it would be fitting to create a list of reasons why I love Vineyard Vines. There are millions of reasons, and I could go on and on, but I'll narrow this list down to the top five reasons why I love VV. Here they are:

1. Let's start with the obvious- Vineyard Vines is the definition of preppy. With pastel colors galore and belts and ties to match your every mood, VV fulfills the preppy lifestyle. As a company that started on the east coast, in Martha's Vineyard, it's no question why Vineyard Vines is the way it is. Check out a picture of the original preps themselves, the creators of Vineyard Vines, Shep and Ian!

2. The logo is a PINK whale. I mean really! Can you get any cuter than a smiling pink whale? I don't think so!

3. Vineyard Vines is constantly updating and improving their own company. Through social media sites such as Pinterest, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, VV is very up-to-date with their branding. While the clothing remains simple and traditional, do not mistake the company for being old-fashioned. Vineyard Vines knows what's up!

4. Through a variety of different types of collections, Vineyard Vines offers a little something to everybody. Whether you go to college and want to show some spirit or you're a huge sports fanatic, you'll be sure to find something from the store. With a variety of accessories such as ties and totes, the company does an awesome job of targeting multiple audiences. While I personally enjoy the College Collection for when I go off to school in a few years, my dad loves the sports ties. In addition, Vineyard Vines has a Sorority Collection for girls involved with Greek life. You're bound to find something you like from Vineyard Vines, whether you know it right now or not! My newest favorite collection is the Valentine's Day Collection!

5. Last but not least, I love Vineyard Vines because I can play golf in it! As a member of the high school golf team, Vineyard Vines is definitely the brand that I wear most often to practice and matches. In fact, VV even has its own Golf Collection for girls and guys! However, golf is not the only sport that Vineyard Vines caters to. Other sports, such as tennis and lacrosse, often shop at Vineyard Vines.

The Whale Shop

One of my favorite aspects about Vineyard Vines is their recently opened online "Whale Shop." As a separate tab on www.vineyardvines.com, the "Whale Shop" presents shoppers with tons of fun items that feature the famous Vineyard Vines whale. With accessories like iPhone cases and key chains, the "Whale Shop" is a perfect place to shop for gifts. I love the "Whale Shop" so much that I've even gifted myself with a few items from there, like the iPhone case. Also, the great thing about Vineyard Vines is they are constantly updating the "Whale Shop" with the newest and hottest accessories.

I recently received this Patchwork Thermos as a gift. I bring it everyday to school, and I use it for either tea or coffee. It's great on the go, plus the patchwork pattern is super cute! You can find this on the "Whale Shop."

Both the Tervis Tumbler and whale magnet can be found on the "Whale Shop."  I put the whale magnet on my car, and I actually use the Tumbler as a pencil cup on my desk.

This keychain is next on my list to get from the "Whale Shop."  Isn't it so cute?

A Female's Perspective

Although I am a girl, I must admit that Vineyard Vines has some amazing apparel for men. Just ask my dad, almost every gift that I give him is from VV! Whether it is a pair of pants or a tie, you can't go wrong. In fact, even girls can wear some of the men's clothing. For example, last summer I purchased a 1/4-Zip Pullover at the store in Boston, and I wear it constantly. So, from a female's perspective, here are a few of my favorite male items:

This Crewneck Whale Sweater is great for any occasion and comes in a variety of colors.

Salmon colored shorts can do no wrong.

This Jersey 1/4-Zip comes in various colors.  I own it in gray.

I love this Blue Gingham shirt.

How sweet is this Antigua Party Whale Shirt?
An Ice Cream Bowtie? I wish I could wear this.

New Arrivals

Last week, I received a copy of the newest Vineyard Vines catalogue in the mail. Needless to say, I had a little bit too much fun picking out all of the new things that I like from the Spring Collection. The following three pieces are my favorite.

Curtain Bluff Shorts                                                                          Gingham Shirt                                        Curtain Bluff Dress

                                                                     (photos taken from  www.vineyardvines.com)

The Curtain Bluff pattern is perfect for the spring. I love the colors, as well as the striped pattern. Both of the Curtain Bluff pieces would look great with a pair of Jack Rogers, as pictured in the first image. Also, I think the Gingham shirt is super cute! You can wear it with a pair of shorts or white pants. It's a great shirt for the Spring and comes in other colors, like pink and green. I can't wait for the weather to warm up so I can wear some of these items!

True Life: I'm obsessed with Vineyard Vines

Over the past few years, I've developed an obsession with Vineyard Vines. From car magnets to coffee mugs, I absolutely adore everything that the store has to offer. Seriously though, how could you not love a pink whale? Although I can admit that this obsession is a bit out of hand (the pictures above probably hint at that), I can't help it! Vineyard Vines is preppy perfection. The brand features products in nearly every pastel color possible for both girls and guys.

As a teenager living in Chicago, though, gaining access to Vineyard Vines products is more challenging than for others living in the east or south. My hopes for this blog is to open eyes to the wonderful world of Vineyard Vines and hopefully show why the prep life is truly the best life.
